Italian furniture manufacturer LaPalma has made a name for itself within the world of contemporary furniture and home furnishings with design that emphasises clean lines and a classically sleek style. Simultaneously, the company lays great importance on high-quality standards and the use of wood, leather and other natural materials from controlled production. The LaPalma brand has its headquarters in the northern Italian city of Padua and was established in 1978 by two brothers Dario and Marcato Romano, who continue to manage the company to this day. Quality and sustainability are at the root of LaPalma’s business ethos. LaPalma’s range mainly includes furniture and furnishings made from traditional materials such as wood, metal and glass, which are incorporated to create clean lines and proportions for a modern yet classically elegant design.
In the past, designers such as Enzo Berti, Takashi Shinozaki and Shin and Tomoko Azumi contributed to the development of products by LaPalma. These designers are responsible for, among others, the successful and award-winning height-adjustable LaPalma Lem Bar Stool and the new barstool series LaPalma Kai. Founder Marcato Romano himself is also involved in the design of LaPalma creations; his submissions include the Aria, Brio, Brunch series as well as other table and chair series. LaPalma creations have won prestigious prizes repeatedly, including the British International Interior Design Award and the Good Design Award from Japan. The height-adjustable LaPalma Thin Bar Stool is another aesthetically successful design that gracefully combines style, function and design.
Designer furniture by LaPalma is modern living: the chairs, bar stools and tables that make up a large part of the collection are especially characteristic of LaPalma’s classic design. These clear lines, however, also continue throughout any additional accessories created by the company. Despite their minimalist design, these pieces are characterised again and again by innovative details, such as the LaPalma Lem Bar Stool that has won numerous design and innovation awards. LaPalma’s design is regularly presented at exhibitions and fairs, including the International Furniture Fair in Cologne or the Milan Fair; additionally, LaPalma exhibits design classics such as the Kai series in its very own showroom in Padua.
