The Italian company Magis sets new standards with its designer furniture by combining modern materials, forms and functions. The philosophy of Magis is certainly not to sell elitist once-off pieces. On the contrary, their range includes functional chairs, tables, sofas, watering cans and step ladders for daily use and is sold all over the world.
Magis has set itself the task of promoting young designers and their designs and acts as an intermediary between design, production and sales. What would the world be without the famous Bombo Bar Stool by designer Stefano Giovannoni or the geometrical chair, Chair One by designer Konstantin Grcic? The amalgamation of function and design is the underlying concept found in all of Magis’ high-quality pieces – exceptional creations for daily use.
The sonorous Magis Proust Armchair, designed by Italian Allessandro Mendini, epitomizes a particularly impressive symbiosis of art, literature, philosophy and design. Neo-baroque forms, colourful covers as well as the well-known literary work ‘The Discovery of Slowness’ by Marcel Proust have played a major role in inspiring the design of this chair. Zeitgeist, material, design and function complement each other perfectly in this Italian creation, which invites you to sit comfortably, despite the profound involvement of the designer.
The popular Nuovastep Step Ladder was conceptualized by designer couple Andries & Hiroko van Onck in the eighties and has since found its use in a wide variety of activities in many homes around the world. It is a great help when cleaning the windows or when objects or shelves are out of reach. Safety and sturdiness is of the highest priority in the design of Nuovastep. Modern designer pieces are firmly established and have the freedom to create space. The stackable Chair One, the folding Nuovastep Step Ladder and the adjustable Bombo Bar Stool accentuate an efficient way of life and are role models for work created by young designers around the world.
Beschreibung
